India-Ecuador Discussion to Enhance Bilateral Health Cooperation
Minister of External Affairs of India, S Jaishankar, also held talks with Ecuador Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero, focusing on further deepening India’s cooperation with the South American country
In a move to strengthen cross-border healthcare partnerships, Union Health Minister JP Nadda has recently met with Ecuador's Foreign Minister, Maira Gabreila Rosero, in New Delhi.
Sharing the details on social media, the Health Minister said that they reflected upon the strong partnership between India and Ecuador and discussed enhanced bilateral health cooperation between the countries.
In addition, Minister of External Affairs of India, S Jaishankar, also held talks with Ecuador Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero, focusing on further deepening India’s cooperation with the South American country in various sectors, including healthcare, trade, and developing digital capabilities.
Commenting on the potential collaboration, Jaishankar said, "Pleased to welcome FM Gabriela Sommerfeld Rosero of Ecuador, who is on her first visit to India. We discussed ways to deepen cooperation, including in trade, health, agriculture, digital, and capacity building. Will cooperate closely in multilateral forums."
He also noted, "The agreement on the funding for the implementation of Quick Impact Projects is a step forward in deepening our development partnership."
Further, he highlighted that India is committed to cooperating on the multilateral forums to strengthen cross-border partnerships and the bilateral agenda.
The latest development follows India’s recent announcement of the Free Trade Agreement with New Zealand to advance cooperation in the medical and health sectors.
The agreement focuses on enabling faster pharmaceutical access, expanding healthcare workforce mobility, and promoting traditional medicine systems globally.
