The acquisition of Zava will further expand the company’s services to Ireland, France, and Germany, and increase its active customer base by around 50%, adding 1.3 million users to its current 2.4 million subscriber base.

Telehealth platform Hims & Hers Health has recently announced the acquisition of Zava, a London-based startup, as part of the company’s strategy to grow internationally.

The acquisition of Zava will further expand the company’s services to Ireland, France, and Germany, and increase its active customer base by around 50%, adding 1.3 million users to its current 2.4 million subscriber base.

Although the financial terms of the Zava deal were not disclosed, a company spokesperson said more details will be available in Hims' second-quarter earnings report, which is expected in August.

The acquisition will be funded using existing cash on hand and is expected to close in the second half of 2025.

“We’re excited to take this moment to really accelerate both the European expansion, but also use this platform as an accelerant as we move into more markets,” Hims & Hers CEO Andrew Dudum said in a statement.

Zava’s CEO, David Meinertz, who founded the platform in 2011, emphasized the benefits this deal brings to healthcare systems across Europe.

“The medications are priced more competitively than in the US so more people can actually afford it and we are seeing a huge demand,” said Meinertz.

“The demand is increasing with additional strains on the statutory systems that telehealth can alleviate,” he added.

Following the acquisition, Zava will retain its branding for a few quarters before transitioning to the Hims & Hers brand. Additionally, the company plans to offer personalized services such as skin care and weight loss treatments in the new markets and will support consultations in local languages.

Further, Meinertz will take on the role of general manager for international operations.

Hims entered the international market in 2021 by acquiring Honest Health, a London-based vertical health platform.

Zava, backed by equity firm HPE Growth, serves over 1 million customers across the UK, Germany, France, and Ireland. It offers medical consultations and delivers prescription medications, including Mounjaro and Wegovy.
