HAIF Launches Software to Predict Heart Failure using any ECG
Users can upload their ECG readings through a secure interface, allowing assessments without the need for in-person clinical visits.
HAIF Inc. has launched Heart Failure Predictor (HFP), a software application that claims to assess the risk of heart failure up to 90 days in advance using any ECG data.
The tool is compatible with hospital-grade ECG machines as well as wearable devices and fitness trackers.
The software uses artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze electrical heart signals and generate a risk score for potential heart failure.
Users can upload their ECG readings through a secure interface, allowing assessments without the need for in-person clinical visits. HAIF says the system is intended to help detect asymptomatic heart conditions in patients who may not otherwise seek cardiovascular evaluation.
According to HAIF, the software has undergone multi-site clinical trials for validation. The company also holds a U.S. patent for the underlying technology.
The product is awaiting approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to be made commercially available in India.
HFP is intended for use by healthcare providers to flag patients at risk of heart failure early. Insurance companies may also use the software to identify high-risk individuals and potentially manage future healthcare costs.
HAIF has cited endorsements from cardiologists including Dr. Divakar Bhat, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Aster Hospital, and Dr. Aravinda Gowda, Senior Physician at Manipal Hospital.
The software can interpret data from multiple types of ECG devices, including single-lead wearable trackers, 12-lead hospital machines, and ECG reports in digital formats.
HAIF states that the tool can detect subtle changes in heart activity that may indicate a risk of heart failure, allowing clinicians to intervene sooner.
With CDSCO approval pending, the software is not yet commercially available in India.
