Led by CM Bhupendra Patel, the state has aggressively advanced the digitalization of health records in line with the Center's Digital India initiative.
Gujarat has achieved a major milestone under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), registering over 4.77 Cr citizens, 70% of its population, for digital health IDs through the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA).
The state government announced the feat on Ayushman Bharat Day, positioning Gujarat at the forefront of India's digital healthcare transformation.
Led by CM Bhupendra Patel, the state has aggressively advanced the digitalization of health records in line with the Center's Digital India initiative.
The ABHA provides citizens with a digital health identity, enabling seamless, secure storage and sharing of medical records, with data accessed only via the patient's consent.
Under ABDM, Gujarat has digitally linked more than 2.26 Cr health records and onboarded over 17,800 health facilities and 42,000 healthcare professionals into the digital health ecosystem.
Among 100 ABDM microsite projects implemented nationwide, Bhavnagar has emerged as the top performer, becoming the first site in the country to link over 2 lakh digital health records and complete all mandated milestones well ahead of its nine-month deadline. Key microsites in Ahmedabad and Surat have also completed their targets, while Rajkot is nearing completion.
The ABDM microsite pilot, launched in September 2021 to connect private healthcare providers to the digital network, began in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Mumbai, and has since expanded based on strong results.
Additionally, the ''Scan & Share'' feature under ABDM, now operational in 19 medical college-affiliated hospitals across Gujarat, allows patients to instantly retrieve OPD tokens and permits doctors real-time access to patients' digital health data, streamlining care delivery and reducing wait times.
