Furthermore, the PM announced the addition of 10,000 new medical seats in this budget, with a goal of adding a total of 75,000 seats in the medical field over the next five years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently emphasized the importance of enhancing digital health infrastructure to ensure quality healthcare reaches remote areas.

Speaking at a post-budget webinar via video conference, the PM highlighted the necessity of implementing the health initiatives outlined in the Union Budget to maximize their benefits. He also mentioned establishing daycare cancer centers.

“The establishment of daycare cancer centers and the development of digital healthcare infrastructure will ensure quality healthcare reaches the last mile,” the PM said.

In the Union Budget, the Finance Minister announced that “all district hospitals will have daycare cancer centers. About 200-day care cancer centers will be established in 2025-26".

According to data from the health ministry, over 31,000 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) are operational across the country, staffed by more than 40,000 doctors and medical officers to deliver primary care in rural, hilly, tribal, and desert regions.

PM Modi also noted that “telemedicine facility is being expanded in all primary health centres (PHCs)”.

Furthermore, the PM announced the addition of 10,000 new medical seats in this budget, with a goal of adding a total of 75,000 seats in the medical field over the next five years.

“These initiatives will have a transformative impact on people's lives,” he said, adding that it will also “create numerous new employment opportunities for youth.”

Additionally, the PM noted that initiatives like 'Heal in India,' proposed in the Union Budget, are expected to enhance medical tourism in the country.

“Efforts are being made to establish India as a global tourism and wellness hub,” he said, while urging stakeholders in the health sector to invest in promoting health tourism.

He underlined that the tourism sector has the potential to contribute up to 10% of India's GDP and create numerous employment opportunities for young people.
