Epic Unveils MyChart Central for Unified Patient Access
Epic began piloting MyChart Central in August and plans to expand region by region later this year.
Epic has introduced MyChart Central, a new tool that allows patients to use a single login to access health records from multiple participating providers.
The platform acts as a hub, providing one sign-in to manage care across organizations and centralized access to their MyChart portal accounts.
“People have been talking about their digital front doors for a long time,” said Trevor Berceau, product development lead at Epic. “This is a huge step toward throwing your digital front door wide open. Patients no longer have to figure out how to create new accounts when moving to a new city or receiving care from multiple providers.”

The company stated that a staggered rollout is necessary to ensure patients have a consistent experience across the organizations where they receive care.
Several healthcare organizations have already implemented the tool, including UW Health and Group Health Cooperative in Madison, Wis., UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines, Iowa, and SSM Health in St. Louis.
The system also offers patients a streamlined way to manage information. For example, a patient can update their address once in MyChart Central and apply it across all linked organizations.
The launch comes amid federal efforts to improve connected and user-friendly digital health tools. On July 30, the Trump administration announced a public-private partnership aimed at modernizing the U.S. healthcare system by improving secure data exchange and expanding access to personalized digital care.
