Microsoft Launches Copilot Health to Deliver Personalized Health Insights Using AI
Microsoft said the platform uses artificial intelligence to identify patterns within health data and generate insights that may help users understand trends in their health history.
Microsoft has announced the launch of Copilot Health, a dedicated health-focused feature within Copilot designed to help users understand their personal health information and generate insights from multiple health data sources.
As per reports, it will operate as a separate environment within Copilot where users can analyze personal health information and receive personalized health insights.
Microsoft stated that the platform is intended to help users prepare for medical consultations and better understand their health information.
According to the company, the feature will not replace doctors but aims to help users make more effective use of clinical consultations by enabling them to arrive with better context and questions.
Integration of Personal Health Data
Copilot Health brings together multiple sources of health information into a single profile. These include activity levels, sleep patterns, vital signs and other metrics collected from more than 50 wearable devices such as Apple Health, Oura and Fitbit.
The platform can also integrate health records from more than 50,000 hospitals and healthcare provider organizations in the United States through HealthEx, including visit summaries, medication lists and test results. It additionally supports lab test data from Function.
Microsoft said the platform uses artificial intelligence to identify patterns within health data and generate insights that may help users understand trends in their health history.
Copilot Health also enables users to search for healthcare providers through real time United States provider directories, allowing filtering by specialty, location, languages spoken and insurance coverage.
AI Development & Research
Microsoft said Copilot Health builds on ongoing research initiatives such as the Microsoft AI Diagnostic Orchestrator, known as MAI DxO, which has demonstrated results in research environments. The company stated that future publications will outline broader clinical applications of the system.
According to Microsoft, the objective is to develop advanced health AI systems capable of combining the general knowledge of primary care physicians with specialist-level expertise. The company said new AI features will only be introduced following clinical evaluations and will be clearly labelled.
Privacy & Security Measures
Microsoft stated that Copilot Health conversations and data are separated from general Copilot services and operate under additional privacy and safety controls.
The company said the system uses encryption at rest and in transit, strict access controls and allows users to manage or delete their information. Users can also disconnect data sources such as electronic health records or wearable devices at any time.
Further, Microsoft clarified that user data from Copilot Health will not be used for model training. Copilot Health will initially launch in English in the United States for adults aged 18 and older.
