Delhi to Set Up 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, with 166 Operational
Delhi’s hospitals are being integrated into the HIMS, enabling patients to book appointments online, access digital health records, and receive unique health IDs.
The Delhi government plans to establish 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, of which 166 are already operational.
Alongside, five major hospital expansions are set to be completed this month, adding 1,300 new beds, new OPDs, and advanced medical equipment to the city's healthcare infrastructure
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Delhi’s hospitals are being integrated into the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS), enabling patients to book appointments online, access digital health records, and receive unique health IDs.
She also noted that medicine procurement will now be centralized, aimed at ensuring transparency and efficiency.
“The foundation we have laid in healthcare, sports, and youth welfare will strengthen generations to come,” mentioned Gupta.
Government officials added that seven ongoing hospital projects in the capital will be redeveloped as super-specialty ICU centres, each dedicated to treating critical conditions such as cancer, high-risk deliveries, and organ transplants.
The seven projects located in Kirari, Sultanpuri, Sarita Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Raghubir Nagar, Geeta Colony, and Dilshad Garden were launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to enhance the city’s healthcare capacity. However, there has been a lack of visible progress in these projects.
To date, 4.5 lakh people have enrolled in the scheme and begun receiving treatment, the Delhi CM informs.
Under the Vaya Vandan Yojana, 2.2 lakh citizens aged 70 and above have been provided free treatment of up to ₹10 lakh each.
Additionally, to address equipment shortages in hospitals, 150 new dialysis machines, 20 CT scan machines, and 12 MRI machines have been installed.
Gupta also confirmed that medical superintendents have been appointed in 28 hospitals, and 1,500 nurses have been granted permanent positions.
