Delhi to Launch 187 New Ayushman Arogya Mandirs by December, Says CM Rekha Gupta
Each centre will provide OPD consultations, free medicines, diagnostic tests, mental health support, and emergency medical assistance, among other facilities.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major healthcare expansion drive, confirming that 168 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are already functional across the capital, while 187 more will be inaugurated by December.
The Chief Minister said the initiative aims to provide essential and primary healthcare closer to citizens’ homes.
“Under this initiative, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are being established across Delhi to provide residents with primary and essential healthcare near their homes. The campaign, based on the principle of ‘Time to Care,’ aligns with the goal of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The Delhi Government will no longer run health centres from rented premises, as adequate government-owned spaces are available for these Mandirs,” she stated.
Gupta said the centres are part of the Ayushman Bharat programme, under which sub-health centres, primary health centres, and urban primary health centres are being upgraded into comprehensive healthcare facilities.
The focus, she explained, is to treat common ailments, ensure timely referrals, and provide standardised, respectful, and quality healthcare tailored to community needs.
Drawing a distinction from earlier mohalla clinics, the Chief Minister said, “Unlike the earlier mohalla clinics, which offered limited services due to poor infrastructure, the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are equipped with advanced facilities and modern infrastructure to provide broader and more effective healthcare.”
Each centre will provide OPD consultations, free medicines, diagnostic tests, maternal and child health services, adolescent and elderly care, mental health support, dental care, and emergency medical assistance, among other facilities.
