Delhi’s GB Pant Hospital Gets Advanced Digital Imaging & Neuro-Care Facilities
A Philips Azurion monoplane Neuro Cath Lab and a modern Neuro Intensive Care Unit have been commissioned to support advanced treatment of neurovascular conditions.
Delhi’s government-run Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital has expanded its specialised healthcare capacity with the inauguration of a 256-slice spectral CT scanner, a Neuro Cath Lab and a modern Neuro Intensive Care Unit, aimed at faster diagnosis and improved outcomes for critical patients.
For the first time, a government hospital in North India has installed a 256-slice spectral CT scanner. According to the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office, the scanner will assist in the diagnosis of cancer, cardiac conditions, stroke, neurological disorders and angiography-related diseases, enabling faster and more accurate clinical assessment.
Officials said the machine features “always-on” spectral imaging technology, which delivers high-resolution images while reducing radiation exposure, enhancing patient safety alongside diagnostic accuracy.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi government is working towards enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in government hospitals so that advanced medical treatment reaches all sections of society, including patients who travel from other states for care.
She added that strengthening public hospitals aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India as a global healthcare destination through improved infrastructure and specialised services.
Alongside the CT scanner, a Philips Azurion monoplane Neuro Cath Lab has been commissioned to support advanced treatment of neurovascular conditions such as stroke, aneurysms and brain tumours.
Hospital officials noted that the cath lab will play a critical role in time-sensitive interventions, particularly in acute stroke cases where rapid response can significantly affect recovery and survival.
The hospital’s existing Neuro ICU has also been renovated and upgraded into a 16-bed modern facility equipped with advanced patient monitoring systems and specialised critical care infrastructure.
An operation theatre complex has been integrated with the ICU to ensure seamless pre-operative and post-operative neurological care, reducing delays in critical surgical interventions.
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the commissioning of the CT scanner, Neuro Cath Lab and upgraded Neuro ICU would improve GB Pant Hospital’s capacity to manage neurological and diagnostic cases and help reduce waiting time for patients requiring specialised care.
He reiterated that modern technology and timely treatment remain the government’s priorities to ensure better and technology-driven healthcare for every patient.
Officials said the 256-slice spectral CT scanner has been installed at a cost of around INR 20 Cr, the Neuro Cath Lab at approximately INR 9 Cr, and the upgraded Neuro ICU and operation theatre complex at about INR 2 Cr.
