Oura has launched the Oura Ring 5 in India, introducing an updated smart ring with enhanced sensors, Blood Pressure Signals, nighttime breathing monitoring, and AI-powered health features.

Priced from INR 39,900, the wearable combines continuous biometric tracking with personalised health insights and activity monitoring.

Oura, founded in Finland and headquartered in San Francisco, develops smart rings that track metrics related to sleep, activity, recovery, and cardiovascular health.

Oura has also expanded its AI health capabilities, including personalised recommendations through Oura Advisor and an AI-enabled care offering developed with virtual healthcare provider Counsel Health.

The new ring features a redesigned sensor architecture with low-profile sensor domes, upgraded LEDs, and 12 enhanced signal pathways.

Oura says these improvements are intended to increase measurement accuracy across different finger shapes and skin tones. The titanium device is reportedly 40% smaller than its predecessor, features a scratch-resistant physical vapour deposition coating, and carries an IP68 rating.

A key addition is Health Radar, which analyses biometric trends to identify potential changes in cardiovascular and respiratory health.

Its Blood Pressure Signals feature tracks patterns associated with cardiovascular strain, while Nighttime Breathing monitors breathing regularity and sleep-related disturbances over 30 days.

However, Blood Pressure Signals does not directly measure blood pressure or provide systolic and diastolic readings. Instead, it identifies trends that may warrant closer attention. The feature is therefore different from conventional blood pressure monitoring devices.

The Oura Ring 5 also introduces Live Activity Tracking, allowing users to monitor workouts in real time through the Oura app.

GLP-1 Insights expands its metabolic health tools for people taking GLP-1 medications, while Oura Health Records allows eligible users to bring clinical health information into the app alongside wearable data.

The ring’s insights are intended to support health awareness and should not replace clinical assessment or established diagnostic equipment.
