Cleveland Clinic, Khosla Ventures Partner to Advance Health Tech Innovation
The initiative is designed to address key challenges in healthcare delivery and accelerate the development of innovative, scalable solutions.
Cleveland Clinic and Khosla Ventures have announced a strategic collaboration connecting the global health system with one of Silicon Valley’s leading healthcare and technology investors.
The collaboration aims to leverage the Cleveland Clinic’s clinical expertise and biomedical research with Khosla Ventures’ two decades of experience investing at the intersection of health and technology.
The initiative is designed to address key challenges in healthcare delivery and accelerate the development of innovative, scalable solutions.
As part of the collaboration, Khosla Ventures’ portfolio companies will have the opportunity to work directly with Cleveland Clinic providers to showcase and test new technologies, from early clinical validation to commercial adoption. This access will enable startups to demonstrate value directly to clinicians and shorten the path from concept to proven application.
For the Cleveland Clinic, the collaboration establishes a direct link to emerging technologies in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital health, and advanced therapeutics.
“Khosla Ventures invests in early, bold, and impactful ideas that help people get healthy, stay healthy, and live longer,” said Hal Paz, MD, operating partner at Khosla Ventures and former CEO of multiple large-scale health systems. “AI is the most transformative technology of our lifetime, and its impact on healthcare will be massive. This relationship with the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most respected health institutions in the world, gives our companies an advantage to validate and scale their innovations.”
“This collaboration pairs our health system’s expertise in biomedical research, clinical care, and innovation with Khosla Ventures’ venture expertise and network of entrepreneurs to drive meaningful advancements in the healthcare industry,” said Geoff Vince, PhD, Chief, Cleveland Clinic Innovations. “Together we aim to accelerate transformational innovation, foster groundbreaking technologies, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.”
Cleveland Clinic has already entered into customer agreements and commercial relationships with several Khosla-backed companies. Additional collaborations are under evaluation for potential partnerships, investments, and co-development projects. Both organizations are also exploring opportunities to incubate a new company, with Khosla Ventures leading technical development and the Cleveland Clinic providing a clinical environment for testing and scaling.
The partnership will focus on four strategic areas: AI and digital health, next-generation therapeutics and diagnostics, innovative care delivery models, and value-based care approaches. Cleveland Clinic Innovations will support the initiative through its experience in IP management, licensing, and startup incubation.
The collaboration was announced at the Cleveland Clinic Life Sciences Summit on October 14 in London.
