SECL Deploys AI-Enabled Mobile Units For Early Disease Detection in Chhattisgarh
The AI-enabled units are designed to provide doorstep screening for TB and other pulmonary conditions, facilitate early diagnosis, and ensure seamless linkage to treatment.
SECL has launched AI-enabled mobile medical units in the Korba district, Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with Ashray Foundation, aiming to improve early detection, treatment, and overall care for tuberculosis and other pulmonary diseases.
This initiative, formalized at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) Headquarters, marks an INR 4.99 Cr commitment under SECL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Project SHWAS is the first initiative of its kind in Chhattisgarh, combining advanced AI technology with mobile healthcare delivery. The AI-enabled units are designed to provide doorstep screening for TB and other pulmonary conditions, facilitate early diagnosis, and ensure seamless linkage to treatment.
Beyond detection, the project delivers preventive, promotive, and outpatient curative healthcare, prioritizing project-affected communities and areas with limited access to medical services.
Historically, TB and pulmonary diseases have posed a significant health burden in coalfield regions, where healthcare infrastructure can be limited and travel to hospitals challenging. By integrating AI into mobile units, SECL aims to bridge this gap, improving patient outcomes through timely intervention, continuous monitoring, and personalized care support.
Key services under Project SHWAS include pre-TB symptomatic treatment, primary care assistance, treatment adherence monitoring, and follow-up for patients. Enrolled individuals will also receive hygiene kits, monthly nutritional and wellness support, and mental health counselling, reflecting a holistic approach to pulmonary healthcare.
Through this technology-driven initiative, SECL demonstrates its commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. Leveraging AI-enabled solutions ensures that residents of Korba have access to timely, high-quality care, while also supporting broader disease prevention and health promotion efforts.
By combining corporate responsibility with innovative healthcare technology, SECL’s Project SHWAS sets a precedent for AI-enabled community health programs in regions with high disease burden.
