The collaboration will focus on mentorship, policy and regulatory support, joint incubation initiatives, engagement with healthcare institutions, and district-level innovation sandboxes to enable real-world testing and validation of solutions.

The Centre of Excellence for HealthTech, MedTech & Assistive Technologies (CHARAKA), Government of Karnataka, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blockchain For Impact (BFI) aimed at enhancing Karnataka’s healthcare innovation ecosystem.

Under the partnership, both institutions will collaborate on mentorship, policy and regulatory support, joint incubation initiatives, engagement with healthcare institutions, and district-level innovation sandboxes to enable real-world testing and validation of solutions.

The collaboration aims to build structured pathways for innovators to develop, validate, and scale impactful healthcare technologies. The initiative aligns with Karnataka’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven healthcare and improving public health outcomes.

By leveraging Bengaluru’s thriving startup ecosystem and major medtech players, the Centre of Excellence aims to strengthen Karnataka’s position as a global hub for health technology and medical device innovation.

Recently, the state government appointed Dr Bhaskar Rajakumar as Chief Executive Officer of the Centre of Excellence in HealthTech and MedTech.

In his new role, Dr Rajakumar will spearhead the Centre’s initiatives aimed at strengthening Karnataka’s health and medical technology ecosystem through collaborations between the government, research institutions, and industry stakeholders.

In another separate development, CHARAKAA joined hands with the DoctorsAI Education and Research Foundation to advance AI adoption within the healthcare ecosystem.

The partnership was aimed at strengthening AI capacity among healthcare professionals, enabling clinician-led innovation, and supporting MedTech and HealthTech startups through global mentorship and expertise.

The latest partnership with BFI also complements its broader efforts to support India's biomedical and MedTech innovation

Earlier this year, the organisation launched its $50 million Innovation Full Stack platform designed to help biomedical and MedTech innovations move from early research to deployable products in the healthcare system.
