Bihar Health Minister Nishant Stresses Digital Tracking in State-Run Hospitals

During the meeting, Nishant said, “All government hospitals should be integrated with the Bihar Health Application Visionary Yojana (BHAVYA) for real-time monitoring of services.”

Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar has called for stronger digital monitoring in government hospitals to improve transparency, efficiency, and patient care across the state. The directive was issued during a review of the Health Department’s Command and Control Centre in Patna.

During the meeting, Nishant said, “All government hospitals should be integrated with the Bihar Health Application Visionary Yojana (BHAVYA) for real-time monitoring of services.” He emphasised that digital systems would help track hospital operations more effectively and ensure better coordination.

The minister highlighted that the move is necessary to address persistent issues in public healthcare, including staff absenteeism, shortage of medicines, delays in treatment, and misuse of medical equipment. He directed officials to ensure that essential medicines are always available and that non-functional machines are repaired without delay.

Focusing on patient experience, Nishant said, “Patients should not face unnecessary delays in registration and treatment.” He instructed hospitals to increase registration counters to reduce long queues and improve service flow. He also stressed that patients in emergency wards must receive proper treatment and should not be referred elsewhere without adequate care.

To improve transparency, he ordered hospitals to display real-time information on bed availability through digital platforms. This, he said, would help patients access accurate information and reduce dependence on intermediaries.

The minister also called for strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms and ensuring proper monitoring of doctors’ duty rosters. He directed officials to maintain strict oversight of ambulance services and fire safety systems in hospitals.

Officials informed that district hospitals are already being monitored through surveillance cameras, with real-time updates on bed occupancy and medicine stock.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader push to digitise healthcare services and improve accountability in public hospitals.
