Bihar Hospital Introduces AI System for Blood Test Analysis
Where technology meets human input.

Patients at the Mayaganj hospital can access their test results digitally, while doctors can review reports online without waiting for physical paperwork. This streamlines routine lab workflows.

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College & Hospital (JLNMC) in Mayaganj, Bhagalpur has started using an artificial intelligence (AI)‑based system for blood testing. The digital pathology system was introduced to improve the process of blood sample testing at the government hospital. It is the first hospital in the state to implement this new system.

Under the new setup, blood samples collected from patients are immediately logged into a computer system. Each sample is given a unique test identification number. This number is used to track the sample through all stages of testing and to link it to the patient’s records in the system.

Once the sample is registered, the machines analyse it digitally using AI technology. Staff at the hospital do not need to manually handle each step of the process. The system is designed to handle many samples at the same time and to record results in digital form.

When the tests are complete, the results are made available digitally. Patients can receive their reports via text message. Doctors at the hospital can also access the reports online. This allows them to see the test findings without waiting for printed reports.

Hospital staff said that the AI‑based system will reduce delays in getting test results. They said that the digital process aims to reduce the time traditionally taken to complete reports and to help reduce manual paperwork in the pathology department. Doctors can view reports on screens and use this information when making treatment decisions.

In cases that need urgent medical attention, the digital reports can be accessed quickly and shared with different departments such as outpatient or emergency services. The system’s records are stored digitally, making it easier for hospital staff to locate patient tests when needed.

Officials at the hospital said the system will serve patients not only in Bhagalpur but also from nearby districts who come for medical care. The hospital’s implementation of the AI system is being watched by health officials as a possible model for other government hospitals in Bihar.
