Aster DM’s KIMS Health to Add 184 Beds at Trivandrum Hospital

The expansion will increase the hospital’s capacity from approximately 795 beds to around 979 beds.

Aster DM Quality Care has approved an INR 134.4 Cr expansion of its KIMS Health subsidiary’s hospital in Trivandrum, Kerala, adding 184 beds and expanding key specialties, with completion targeted for May 2028.

The expansion will increase the hospital’s capacity from approximately 795 beds to around 979 beds.

The investment will be financed through a combination of debt and equity, with 70% of the INR 134.4 Cr project cost expected to come from debt and the remaining 30% through equity.

The company has said the expansion is intended to address space limitations at the existing facility while enabling the growth of key medical specialties.

During FY26, approximately 596 beds were utilised, corresponding to an occupancy level of about 75%.

While the existing hospital has not been operating at full capacity, the planned expansion indicates that Aster DM and KIMS Health are preparing for higher demand and broader service requirements in the market.

The additional infrastructure is expected to provide more room for specialty services while allowing the hospital to improve the use of its existing space.

With construction scheduled to be completed by May 2028, the KIMS Health expansion will add nearly one-fourth to the current bed capacity of the Trivandrum facility.
