Ambience Healthcare, a leading AI platform for clinical documentation and revenue integrity, has launched the Chart Chat for Nursing, an EHR-integrated conversational AI tool designed for inpatient nursing.

The solution aims to improve inpatient nursing workflows while enhancing care coordination between teams.

Built alongside inpatient nurses and nursing informatics teams, the Chart Chat tool is designed to enable nurses to ask for patient records using natural-language and receive real-time responses and relevant clinical notes, lab results, hospital policies, and more EHR-stored data.

Each response is backed with citations, enabling traceability back to original records.

Reportedly, the solution is already being piloted at the Cleveland Clinic, marking the first health system to pilot the technology for inpatient nursing environments.

By enabling clinicians to access a consolidated view of patient history and care requirements through conversational queries, the AI tool seeks to facilitate timely and informed care decisions while reducing the need to manually navigate multiple data sources.

Additionally, it supports medication awareness and helps nurses understand a diagnosis, a care pathway, or a clinical term on the spot.

The platform incorporates a structured safety framework, including real-time monitoring and feedback mechanisms, to ensure response accuracy and reliability.

Further, it is designed to limit outputs to clinically relevant queries and explicitly indicate when sufficient data is unavailable, which is expected to reduce the risk of incorrect or misleading responses.

In addition, the healthtech platform has incorporated strict guardrails to prevent AI hallucinations and manage risks. These guardrails are designed to ensure that Chart Chat for Nursing functions as a reliable source of care guidance.

The launch is part of Ambience’s broader effort to develop AI tools specifically for nursing workflows across care settings.

Currently, the platform supports more than 200 specialties across outpatient, emergency, and inpatient environments.
