The system is designed to enhance the quality of care by providing healthcare professionals with real-time access to evidence-based information right at the patient's bedside.

All India Institute of Medical Science, Bhopal, has announced plans to introduce a digital clinical decision support system (CDSS), aimed at supporting doctors with evidence-based recommendations and relevant clinical information during patient care.

The new system is expected to make care more uniform, safer, and more up‑to‑date.

The system is designed to enable doctors to quickly verify diagnoses, medication dosages, and treatment methods aimed at minimising errors and improving outcomes.

Additionally, the software will be available round-the-clock on computers and mobile devices (Android and iOS), and it will feature offline capabilities to assist healthcare workers in low-connectivity areas.

It includes medical calculators, drug information, and interaction checkers, as well as interactive clinical pathways that guide doctors step by step in treating common diseases.

In addition, it will provide structured, evidence-based guidance at the point of care across a wide range of specialities, including emergency medicine, cardiology, neurology, obstetrics, oncology, critical care, and infectious diseases.

The integrated calculator is intended to estimate the risk of death and transfer the patient to the intensive care unit as soon as possible.

The tool will provide structured, evidence-based guidance at the point of care across various specialities, such as emergency medicine, cardiology, neurology, paediatrics, obstetrics, oncology, critical care, and infectious diseases.

Reportedly, its content is reviewed by expert doctors, presented in a structured, searchable format, and regularly updated as new medical evidence emerges.

According to institute officials, the system seeks to enhance the quality of care by providing healthcare professionals with real-time access to evidence-based information right at the patient's bedside.

Further, the rollout is expected to enhance the clinical training of residents and medical students, enabling teams to make more consistent and guideline-based decisions in busy OPDs, wards, and emergency departments.

In a recent development, the institute entered into a research-based collaboration with the Erasmus Medical Centre, the Netherlands to advance research study in pharmacogenomics.

The collaboration will focus on exploring the use of genetic data in guiding treatment decisions, to enable more individualised prescription practices.
