Yatharth Hospitals Draws Interest From Aster, Advent as Healthcare Consolidation Heats Up
The potential transaction comes as private equity investors and large hospital operators step up consolidation activity in India’s healthcare sector.
Advent International and Blackstone-backed Aster DM Quality Care are reportedly exploring a potential acquisition of a controlling stake in Yatharth Hospitals and Trauma Care Services, according to people familiar with the matter. Yatharth Hospitals, a listed hospital chain with a strong presence in North India, has denied being involved in any such sale discussions.
The potential transaction comes as private equity investors and large hospital operators step up consolidation activity in India’s healthcare sector. Due diligence is reportedly in the final stages, although sources said there is no certainty that a deal will be concluded.
Yatharth shares have gained 15.3% over the past month, closing at ₹973.05 on Thursday after reaching a 52-week high of ₹982.65. The company’s market capitalization stood at approximately ₹9,462 crore. Promoters Ajay Kumar Tyagi and family, along with Kapil Kumar, hold a 55.8% stake.
If a controlling-stake transaction is completed, the acquirer would be required to make a mandatory open offer for an additional 26% stake, potentially taking its ownership above 75%. Sources said the existing promoters could retain a minority holding.
However, Yatharth has rejected the reported sale discussions. A company spokesperson called the report inaccurate. Blackstone also said it is neither evaluating a transaction nor participating in any sale process. Aster DM Quality Care did not respond to requests for comment, while Advent could not be reached.
Yatharth Plans Capacity Expansion
Based in Noida and Greater Noida, Yatharth operates around nine hospitals with more than 2,800 beds across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. The company plans to increase capacity to more than 5,000 beds over the next three years, alongside investments in robotics, oncology and transplant programs.
For the quarter ended June 2026, Yatharth reported a 51% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue to ₹392.70 crore. Average revenue per occupied bed rose 7% to ₹34,758.
Aster Expands Beyond Its Core Markets
Aster DM Quality Care was formed through the merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India, bringing together Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, Evercare and KIMSHEALTH.
The combined network has around 40 hospitals across 27 cities, with approximately 10,800 beds. Aster plans to increase capacity to 15,000 beds by FY29, according to Alisha Moopen, Executive Director, Aster DM Quality Care.
A potential Yatharth acquisition would give Aster greater exposure to North and Central India, where its presence remains comparatively limited.
The interest comes amid growing investor activity in Indian hospitals, driven by rising healthcare demand, expanding insurance coverage, higher patient volumes and increasing revenue from high-acuity specialties such as cardiology and oncology.
