We are Digitizing Health Records of all 5 Crore Citizens: CM Naidu

The Sanjeevani initiative is set to position Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in digital health governance, combining insurance coverage, digitized records, and real-time data systems.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the government will digitize the health records of all five crore citizens under a new Universal Health Coverage Scheme.

The initiative, launched during the inauguration of the new Sankara Eye Hospital building in Chinakakani, Guntur district, is aimed at building a fully digital, integrated healthcare ecosystem across the state.

The Chief Minister said the project will provide ₹2.5 lakh insurance coverage per individual and up to ₹25 lakh per family for medical services.

“We are digitizing the health records of all 5 crore citizens,” Naidu said, emphasizing that the scheme aligns with the state’s mission to make healthcare accessible and data-driven.

The initiative is being implemented with support from the Tata Group under the Sanjeevani project, which includes setting up digital health nerve centres across Andhra Pradesh.

CM Naidu said this partnership will help connect hospitals, primary health centres, and community clinics on one digital platform, ensuring real-time health data access and continuity of care.

The first Digital Nerve Center (DiNC) was launched in Kuppam, Naidu’s constituency, developed in collaboration with Tata MD and the Gates Foundation. The facility links 13 Primary Health Centres, one Area Hospital, and 92 Village Health Centres, enabling early diagnosis, virtual consultations, and follow-up care.

“The Digi Nerve Center will ensure diagnosis, healthcare services, screening tests, and follow-up care, and it serves as a centralised hub for all public health-related information,” Naidu said.

He explained that the project will be rolled out in three phases, starting from Kuppam, extending to Chittoor district, and later expanding across the state.

“In the first phase, services are being introduced in Kuppam. The second phase will cover the entire Chittoor district, and the third phase will expand them statewide,” he said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that technology integration could significantly reduce healthcare expenditure.

He urged officials to focus on preventive health, real-time monitoring, and cost-effective strategies, especially for maternal care. Andhra Pradesh currently spends about ₹19,000 crore on healthcare, he said.

The Sanjeevani initiative, according to Naidu, is set to position Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in digital health governance, combining insurance coverage, digitized records, and real-time data systems to ensure efficient, transparent, and accessible care for every citizen.
