Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has lauded Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his commitment to using technology and innovation to drive governance and public service delivery.
In a recent letter addressed to the CM, Gates described Naidu as “a model of leadership that is ambitious and grounded in the realities to drive progress.”

He expressed the Gates Foundation’s enthusiasm for supporting Andhra Pradesh through technical collaboration across sectors, including health, nutrition, agriculture, and education.
AI & Technology to Strengthen Healthcare and Agriculture
Referring to their recent meeting in Delhi, Gates said he was “especially intrigued” by Andhra Pradesh’s plans to integrate wearable technologies, digitised health records, and AI-assisted clinical decision-making to strengthen healthcare delivery.
He added that using AI-enabled advisory services, improved seed varieties, and soil health monitoring could significantly boost farmer productivity and resilience.
Gates also highlighted the importance of the state’s focus on nutrition, saying he was encouraged by discussions on evidence-based interventions such as multiple micronutrient supplements and intravenous iron to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
He further noted that the planned MedTech manufacturing hub in the state represents a major opportunity to increase access to affordable, high-quality diagnostic and clinical devices for underserved communities.
Thanking Naidu for a forward-looking conversation during their recent meeting, Gates expressed hope to visit Andhra Pradesh on his next trip to India to witness the “incredible work underway” and continue building on the strategic partnership.
