Walgreens Launches Virtual Weight Management Platform for Self-Pay GLP-1 Patients

The new offering, Walgreens Weight Management, operates through the company’s virtual healthcare platform and connects adults aged 18 to 64 with licensed physicians and nurse practitioners via online video visits.

Walgreens has launched a virtual weight management platform designed for self-pay patients seeking access to GLP-1 medications, with pricing starting at $149 per month and no subscription fee.

The new offering, Walgreens Weight Management, operates through the company’s virtual healthcare platform and connects adults aged 18 to 64 with licensed physicians and nurse practitioners via online video visits. During the consultation, clinicians assess eligibility for weight-loss treatment and may prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 drugs if appropriate. Follow-up visits for dose adjustments or side-effect management are available on demand at $49 per session.

Through the program, patients can access select doses of Wegovy using Walgreens’ Rx Savings Finder tool. Tablet doses of 1.5 mg or 4 mg are available starting at $149 per month, while injectable doses of 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg are priced at $199 per month. The service is available in most U.S. states.

The platform is targeted at overweight and obese adults who plan to pay out-of-pocket for GLP-1 therapy. According to the company, the initiative expands its virtual care capabilities to include structured weight management services integrated with its pharmacy network.

Demand for GLP-1 medications continues to rise. A 2025 report by RAND Corporation found that nearly 12% of U.S. adults reported having used a GLP-1 medication, while 14% expressed interest in taking one. Adults aged 50 to 64 represented the largest user group, with higher uptake among women aged 30 to 49 compared to men in the same age bracket.

Walgreens joins digital health platforms such as DarioHealth, Noom, GoodRx and Wheel in offering GLP-1 access through virtual channels.
