US Health System Expands Sectra Imaging Cloud to Include Digital Pathology for Cancer Care
The digital pathology module will allow pathologists to instantly review and collaborate on cases digitally, aided by AI tools and remote access to high-resolution tissue images, eliminating the limitations of traditional glass slides and microscopes.
In a major move towards integrated diagnostics in oncology, a leading US-based health system has expanded its enterprise imaging cloud service from Sweden’s Sectra to include digital pathology.
The deal strengthens the healthcare provider’s existing deployment of Sectra’s radiology and ophthalmology modules under the Sectra One Cloud platform.
The expansion, formalized in June 2025 after a successful pilot, is valued at $8.9 million for usage through 2033, if the full contract term is realized.
“Unifying different types of medical imaging in one system enables closer collaboration across specialties. For example, having both radiology and pathology in the same system enables integrated diagnostics, which is key to improving patient care, especially within cancer,” said Isaac Zaworski, president of Sectra Inc.
The digital pathology module will allow pathologists to instantly review and collaborate on cases digitally, aided by AI tools and remote access to high-resolution tissue images, eliminating the limitations of traditional glass slides and microscopes.
With this move, pathologists and radiologists within the system will now operate on a shared platform, advancing the institution’s integrated diagnostic capabilities in cancer care and streamlining workflows.
Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution offers a scalable, modular setup with a Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) core, enabling health systems to consolidate imaging operations across departments without needing new infrastructure.
