Ultrahuman Launches Pulsomics to Build Large-Scale Human Pulse Dataset

Ultrahuman has launched Pulsomics, an opt-in research programme built into its app that allows Ring users to contribute overnight pulse signal and health data for developing next-generation wellness models.
The programme aims to address limitations in wearable health models that are often trained on relatively small or less diverse datasets. Factors including skin tone, body composition and device fit can affect wearable signals, potentially influencing the performance of health algorithms across different populations.
Under Pulsomics, participating users provide health and demographic information including age, sex, height, weight, ethnicity and skin tone. The programme combines overnight pulse signals captured by the Ultrahuman Ring with other data sources, including lifestyle information, continuous glucose monitoring, blood panels and VO₂ Max testing.
“Pulsomics enables any Ultrahuman user to contribute to science, and to the creation of models that can predict everything from how much sleep you need to an individual’s organ function,” said Mohit Kumar, Founder and CEO, Ultrahuman.
Three Studies Launch Under Pulsomics
Three studies are initially available through the programme.
The Sleep Sufficiency Study combines daily sleep journals with pulse signal data to investigate individual sleep requirements beyond population-level averages.
The Glucose Metabolism Study links pulse signals with recent blood test panels to explore whether metabolic insights can eventually be derived from Ring data without requiring repeated laboratory measurements.
The VO₂ Max Study combines pulse signals with fitness and laboratory reference data to examine cardiovascular fitness estimation across broader populations.
Ultrahuman said additional studies will examine cardiovascular load and longitudinal sleep patterns.
The programme builds on the company's previous research, including published work on its Metabolic Score in Scientific Reports, a study of sleep consistency and nocturnal glucose control covering 227,860 nights conducted with Stanford's Snyder Lab, Bangor University and La Trobe University, and an ongoing Mayo Clinic study involving patients receiving GLP-1 medications.
Privacy and Research Status
Pulsomics is positioned as wellness research and does not provide participants with diagnoses or individual health results. Participants can view their contributions, logged nights, and study participation, while research findings will use aggregated, de-identified data.
Participation is free and voluntary, with users able to opt out at any time. Ultrahuman said participant data is not sold or shared with advertisers, employers or insurers.
The programme is available to Ring users aged 18 and above using Ultrahuman Ring AIR or Ring PRO. The study is registered with the Clinical Trials Registry–India (CTRI/2026/08/115584) and has received ethics committee approval from Medstar Speciality Hospital Ethics Committee.
