UF Health Elevates Craig Richardville to Chief Digital & Information Officer Role
In his new role, Richardville will direct the development and execution of UF Health’s digital and information strategy across clinical, business, and research operations.
University of Florida Health has appointed Craig Richardville as senior vice president and chief digital and information officer for its clinical enterprise, effective May 1, expanding his responsibilities to oversee enterprise digital strategy, information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data and analytics across the organization.
The appointment formalizes a broader leadership role for Richardville after his tenure as deputy chief information officer at UF Health, where he helped improve operational performance, support Epic modernization initiatives, and strengthen systemwide digital collaboration.
“I am honored to serve UF Health in this role and to build on the strong digital foundation already in place,” Richardville said. “Together with our clinical, academic, research and administrative colleagues, we have a tremendous opportunity to responsibly scale digital innovation, advance artificial intelligence and ensure our technology capabilities directly support exceptional patient care, discovery and education.”
Richardville brings more than three decades of healthcare IT and digital transformation experience to the position, including nearly 20 years serving as a chief information or digital officer at major health systems.
Over the course of his career, he has led enterprise technology modernization, consumer digital health strategies, analytics programs, and innovation initiatives designed to improve both clinical and operational performance.
Prior to joining UF Health, Richardville built a national profile in healthcare technology leadership through executive roles at large integrated delivery networks, where he championed cloud-first, mobile-first, and patient-first digital strategies.
He is also known for his work shaping healthcare IT standards and policy discussions at the national level, including advocacy with legislative and executive branch leaders on the future of health information technology.
“Craig is a nationally respected digital and information technology expert with a deep understanding of how technology, data and innovation can enable exceptional patient care, research and education,” said Stephen J. Motew, MD, MHA, FACS, UF Health president and system CEO.
“His proven experience leading complex health systems — combined with his recent impact here at UF Health — positions him perfectly to advance our enterprise digital strategy, accelerate responsible adoption of artificial intelligence and strengthen cybersecurity as we continue to grow and innovate in support of our academic, research and patient care missions.”
In his new role, Richardville will direct the development and execution of UF Health’s digital and information strategy across clinical, business, and research operations.
His remit includes expanding AI adoption, advancing digital workforce enablement, overseeing privacy and security functions, and ensuring technology investments align with the organization’s academic and care delivery priorities.
