Somerset-backed Cyrix Healthcare Acquires Blue Star E&E's MedTech Solutions Business
The acquisition brings together Blue Star E&E’s expertise in multi-brand CT and MRI systems into Cyrix’s existing operations.
Kochi-based Cyrix Healthcare, a portfolio company of Somerset Indus Capital Partners Fund III, has acquired the MedTech Solutions business of Delhi-based Blue Star Engineering & Electronics (Blue Star E&E).
The latest acquisition seeks to strengthen Cyrix's medical imaging capabilities and expand its "total MedTech management" platform across India, West Asia, and Africa.
The acquisition brings together Blue Star E&E’s expertise in multi-brand CT and MRI systems, including sales, installation, and maintenance services across more than 250 installations, into Cyrix’s existing operations.
Further, it will also strengthen AURUM, Cyrix’s refurbished medical equipment business, particularly in refurbished CT and MRI systems.
The combined platform is intended to provide healthcare providers with improved access to refurbished equipment, spare parts and accessories, supported by Cyrix’s warehouse and service network across India.
The financial terms of acquisition have not been disclosed yet. Existing Blue Star E&E MedTech Solutions customers will continue to be supported by the same teams following the acquisition, with the business now operating as part of Cyrix Healthcare.
Cyrix currently has more than 1,200 biomedical engineers and technical professionals, expertise across over 6,000 models of medical technologies, and responsibility for more than 650,000 medical devices supporting over 25,000 healthcare facilities.
Commenting on the latest development, Ajith Kumar S, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Cyrix Healthcare, said, “We are privileged to carry forward a business that has earned the trust of India's healthcare community over several decades. Blue Star E&E has built a strong legacy in medical technology, and this acquisition significantly strengthens our imaging expertise, service capabilities, and product portfolio while accelerating our vision of building a comprehensive Total MedTech Management ecosystem.”
