Siemens Healthineers in Talks With Karnataka on Healthtech and Life Sciences CoEs
The collaboration discussions come as Siemens Healthineers continues to expand its engagement with deeptech startups in India, particularly within the healthcare technology ecosystem.
Siemens Healthineers is in discussions with the Karnataka government to collaborate on developing centres of excellence in life sciences, healthtech, and medical products, according to IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge.
The engagement took place during a meeting in Bengaluru between Kharge and the leadership team of Siemens Healthineers, where both sides explored opportunities in skilling, joint incubation, and strengthening alignment with the state’s deeptech initiatives.
Kharge said the discussions included potential collaboration on upcoming centres of excellence and ways the company could engage more closely with Karnataka’s startup ecosystem under the state’s “Deeptech Decade” initiative. He noted that global companies continuing to expand their presence in Karnataka reflects the strength of the state’s talent pool and innovation infrastructure.
Siemens Healthineers, which operates one of its four global innovation hubs in Bengaluru, runs a Global Capability Centre in the city focused on data analytics, artificial intelligence, and immersive technologies. The company already holds a significant share of its global R&D and engineering workforce in the region.
During the meeting, the company also shared updates on its upcoming Bengaluru campus. The facility is expected to integrate research and development, manufacturing, and training functions under one structure, according to the minister.
The collaboration discussions come as Siemens Healthineers continues to expand its engagement with deeptech startups in India, particularly within the healthcare technology ecosystem. The company’s growing presence in Bengaluru further reinforces the city’s position as a key global hub for its operations.
The Karnataka government has been working to position the state as a centre for advanced healthcare innovation, with a focus on partnerships between industry, academia, and startups to strengthen the life sciences and healthtech sectors.
