Reliance Foundation has announced plans to transform Seven Hills Hospital into a large integrated healthcare facility as part of its broader efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand access to advanced medical services in India.

Speaking about the project at a recent event, Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani outlined plans to transform the existing Seven Hills hospital into a comprehensive healthcare hub that combines patient care, medical education, research, and innovation under a single ecosystem.

According to the foundation, the hospital will have a 1,500-bed capacity and is expected to become one of Mumbai's largest integrated healthcare institutions.

It will focus on clinical research, cancer care, emergency and trauma services, organ transplantation, and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

Speaking at the occasion, Nita Amabini, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, said, “Healthcare is one of the most powerful investments in our nation’s future. We are moving forward with our vision of a transformative medical city and medical college in Mumbai. The hospital will leverage advanced medical technologies, AI, data-driven clinical systems, digital health platforms, and compassionate patient care.”

“For us, this is much more than a hospital. It is the beginning of a truly integrated medical hub in the heart of Mumbai,” she added.

The initiative is being undertaken in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), with more than 450 beds reserved for economically weaker sections, reinforcing the project's social healthcare focus.

The latest development follows the approval of a resolution plan by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), under which Reliance Group, along with Capri Global Holdings, acquired the hospital and committed fresh investments towards its revival and expansion.

Located in Andheri East, Seven Hills Hospital was originally launched in 2010 as a public-private partnership on BMC-owned land and was envisioned as one of India's largest private healthcare facilities.

However, financial difficulties and operational challenges eventually pushed the hospital into bankruptcy.

In addition to the redevelopment of Seven Hills Hospital, the announcement also included plans to expand the JEEVAN Centre, a chronic disease care facility at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, with a dedicated pediatric oncology/chemotherapy wing.

Further, Nita Ambani also highlighted the JioHealthIQ platform, an initiative that integrates AI into healthcare delivery aimed at improving healthcare access in remote areas.

The platform is intended to connect users with healthcare facilities, enabling AI-assisted triage, teleconsultations, and coordination with hospitals such as Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and SevenHills Hospital.
