Redcliffe Labs Unveils AI-Powered Face Scan for Contactless Preventive Health Screening in India

The AI-powered tool provides real-time wellness indicators related to heart health, blood pressure, and stress levels, accessible via any camera-enabled device.

Redcliffe Labs has launched Face Scan, an AI-powered, contactless wellness screening tool that uses smartphone cameras to deliver instant health insights in 30 seconds, positioning the technology as an early awareness checkpoint to support preventive healthcare in India.

India continues to face a significant burden of chronic and lifestyle-related conditions, with over 500 million people currently living with, or at risk of, diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative conditions.

Public health experts have long emphasised that timely screening and behavioural intervention can help prevent or manage a large proportion of these conditions, particularly when risks are identified early. Redcliffe’s latest AI initiative is positioned within this broader shift toward prevention-first healthcare models.

“Everybody has the right to have an easy way to keep track of their well-being,” said Aditya Kandoi, CEO, Redcliffe. “This is more than technology; this is 30 seconds of peace of mind. By making preventive analytics readily available, whenever, wherever, we are empowering people to make meaningful changes, early and live healthy lives.”

Face Scan uses artificial intelligence in combination with remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) and remote ballistocardiography (rBCG) to analyse physiological signals captured through a short facial video.

By detecting minute colour changes in the skin caused by blood flow, the AI system estimates parameters such as heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate, and blood pressure without requiring physical contact.

The rBCG component analyses subtle head movements to enhance accuracy, particularly in low-light environments and across different skin tones, including higher melanin concentrations.

The AI-powered tool delivers real-time wellness indicators related to heart health, blood pressure, and stress levels using any camera-enabled device.

Redcliffe has clarified that Face Scan is not intended to function as a medical device or provide clinical diagnoses. Instead, it serves as an intelligent early-warning mechanism that may prompt users to seek further diagnostic evaluation when potential concerns are flagged.

With repeated use, the company states that the AI system can help users observe trends and variations in health indicators over time. This longitudinal tracking capability is intended to support informed decision-making and encourage individuals to adopt preventive behaviours before conditions progress.
