Rajindra Hospital Goes Paperless with New E-Hospital Services in Patiala

The new e-hospital setup includes computerized OPD registration slips, laboratory information systems, unique hospital identification numbers for patients, and digital billing facilities, enabling smoother administrative processes.

Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala has gone fully digital with the launch of e-hospital services and the inauguration of the Chief Minister Patient Assistance Center. The event was presided over by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh.

Officials said the initiative aims to make healthcare delivery faster, more transparent, and easily accessible for patients.

The digital transformation has been implemented through the open-source Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) as part of the Digital India programme.

The new e-hospital setup includes computerized OPD registration slips, laboratory information systems, unique hospital identification numbers for patients, and digital billing facilities, enabling smoother administrative processes.

Dr Balbir Singh also announced that four new medical courses, in critical medicine, family medicine, palliative care, and geriatric care, will be introduced soon at the hospital.

He said that a 300-bed trauma care hospital is currently under construction, and the super specialty block is being upgraded to reduce patient referrals to Chandigarh.

The newly inaugurated Chief Minister Patient Assistance Centre, built with support from Round Table India under Kings XI Punjab, will provide patients and their attendants with waiting and seating areas, Jan Aushadhi medicine facilities, and a help desk for senior citizens and the differently abled.

Senior officials, including Director Research and Medical Education (DRME) Dr Avneesh Kumar, Director Principal Dr R.P.S. Sibia, and Medical Superintendent Dr Vishal Chopra, attended the inauguration.
