He further called for the immediate release of ₹60,000 Cr in pending central funds for infrastructure recovery.

Punjab's Health Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, has announced that the recent floods have caused an estimated ₹780 crore in damages to the state's healthcare infrastructure.

This involves the loss of medicines valued at ₹130 crore and extensive damage to 1,280 dispensaries and health and wellness centres, 101 community health centres, and 31 out of the state’s 41 sub-divisional hospitals.

In response to the devastation, Dr. Singh has appealed to the central government for urgent assistance. He has requested at least ₹20,000 crore for healthcare recovery and comprehensive rehabilitation efforts.

Additionally, he has called for the immediate release of ₹60,000 crore in pending central funds, asserting that a robust healthcare system is vital for both humanitarian and economic recovery.

The floods have affected over 1,400 villages in Punjab, with more than 3.5 lakh residents impacted. The state has experienced severe damage to crops, homes, and other infrastructure, exacerbating the challenges faced by the healthcare system.

Dr. Singh emphasized that the central government's response is crucial for both humanitarian and economic recovery, asserting that a robust healthcare system is fundamental to the state's recovery.

The Health Minister also thanked the Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and volunteers for their support in providing medical aid in flood-hit villages.

He reaffirmed the AAP-led Punjab Government’s commitment to supporting the people and rebuilding a stronger health infrastructure in Punjab.
