Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate three key healthcare infrastructure projects at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) to the nation on July 17, according to PGIMER Director Dr Vivek Lal.
The projects include the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, the Advanced Neurosciences Centre, and a new Critical Care Block. The facilities are expected to strengthen tertiary care services and expand access to specialised treatment.
According to the institute, the inauguration is expected to enhance PGIMER's clinical and research capabilities, particularly in maternal, child, and neurological care, while improving patient access and service capacity. The facilities will also support the institute's role as a referral centre for northern India.
The Advanced Mother and Child Centre is expected to enhance care for high-risk pregnancies, newborns, and paediatric patients. The Advanced Neurosciences Centre will support complex neurological diagnosis and treatment, while the Critical Care Block is expected to increase capacity for patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions.
Commenting on the significance of the projects, PGIMER Director Dr Vivek Lal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the facilities to the nation on July 17. He said the projects mark an important step in strengthening specialised public healthcare infrastructure.
The institute said the dedication of the new facilities aligns with broader efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure through specialised centres of excellence.
