PM Modi Inaugurates INR 250 Cr Medical Device Park in Rajkot, Strengthening India’s MedTech Manufacturing
The park is envisioned as a single, integrated hub that supports the entire medical device value chain, from research and product development to testing, manufacturing, and global distribution.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has e-inaugurated an INR 250 Cr medical device park in Rajkot, Gujarat, signalling a renewed push to scale domestic manufacturing and exports in the medical devices sector through a fully integrated industrial ecosystem.
The newly launched medical device park at Nagalpar has been positioned as a cornerstone of Gujarat’s strategy to strengthen high-value manufacturing in sunrise sectors such as medical devices.
Spread over 336 acres, the park is envisioned as a single, integrated hub that supports the entire medical device value chain, from research and product development to testing, manufacturing, and global distribution.
PM Modi also unveiled plans for 13 new smart industrial estates across seven districts, to be developed by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) over 3,540 acres. Rajkot’s medical device park forms part of this broader industrial expansion aimed at attracting long-term investment into advanced manufacturing and technology-driven sectors.
As per GIDC, the Nagalpar facility follows its earlier proposal announced in 2024 to establish an INR 250 Cr sector-specific medical device park.
The initiative has been designed to offer ready-to-use, plug-and-play infrastructure for medical device manufacturers, reducing entry barriers and accelerating time to market.
Planned utilities include a proposed water supply system with a capacity of 3.5 million litres per day, dedicated solid waste management facilities, a sewage treatment plant, and land allocated for a 66 kV power substation to ensure a reliable electricity supply.
Highlighting the broader economic context, the Prime Minister said that every region of Gujarat has unique strengths, ranging from industrial clusters and ports to agriculture and animal husbandry. He reiterated that India is steadily moving toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy and already holds leadership positions in sectors such as generic medicines, vaccines, digital payments, startups, and mobile phone manufacturing.
The timing of the announcement is significant, coming ahead of the Regional Conference scheduled in Rajkot. The event is expected to serve as a platform to draw domestic and international investors to Gujarat’s emerging medical devices ecosystem, reinforcing the state’s ambition to become a national and global hub for medical technology manufacturing and innovation.
