Oracle Launches Mobile Charting Extension for EHR Users in the U.S.

The feature is designed to address ongoing interoperability challenges in non-traditional care environments.

Oracle has announced the U.S. availability of its mobile extension tool, Oracle Health Community Care, which supports clinicians who deliver care in homes, rural areas, and mobile health settings.

The extension works with Oracle Health Foundation electronic health records (EHR), allowing providers to access and update patient charts without network connectivity. The feature is designed to address ongoing interoperability challenges in non-traditional care environments.

“Care settings are increasingly moving from a centralized environment to a model that incorporates home health, mobile venues, and rural environments where consistent network connections are not always available,” said Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Health and Life Sciences.

Previously adopted in Europe and Australia, the tool enables clinicians to store patient data on mobile devices securely. Information entered offline is automatically synchronized with the EHR’s master record once the device reconnects to a network. Oracle calls this cloud-based syncing “near real-time.”

A company spokesperson said, “As a cloud-based extension of the EHR, we also ensured that the data was securely moved to and stored on the mobile device.”

The mobile app mirrors the EHR user interface, simplifying onboarding and training. It also features mapping tools for navigation and options to communicate directly with primary care providers during patient visits.

“With Oracle Health Community Care, we are delivering comprehensive patient health records to caregivers in the field, so they have the information they need to provide quality care anytime, anywhere,” Verma added.

The launch follows Oracle’s broader push to upgrade EHR performance and interoperability, including earlier announcements of AI-driven documentation tools and mobile charting improvements.
