The National Health Authority has reviewed the implementation of PMJAY and ABDM across all 38 districts of Bihar, led by NHA CEO Dr. Sunil Barnwal and Bihar Health Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, through a video conference.

During the review, Dr. Barnwal emphasised the need to integrate IPD services into the digital patient journey and increase scheme utilisation by ensuring a higher proportion of total IPD cases are handled in public hospitals.

He also called for onboarding all private doctors under the Health Professional Registry and ensuring that all government and private hospitals are included in the Health Facility Registry. Enabling private hospitals to adopt ABDM-compliant HMIS was another priority highlighted.

Dr. Barnwal also met Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit to review the state’s roadmap for PMJAY and ABDM. Discussions focused on accelerating digital health transformation, extending PMJAY benefits to the last mile and building an inclusive, future-ready health ecosystem.

Senior officials from the State Health Agency Bihar accompanied Dr. Barnwal during a visit to Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Patna to assess digital patient care initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

The hospital demonstrated its end-to-end digital integration, which includes QR-based registration via ABHA ID, digital OPD slips with real-time patient tracking, electronic lab and X-ray reports and paperless pharmacy dispensing with automatic updates.
