Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J. P. Nadda has chaired a high-level virtual review meeting with Kerala Health Minister K. Muraleedharan to assess the implementation of key national health programmes and review the state's public healthcare priorities.
Discussions centred on strengthening healthcare delivery through improved access to medicines and diagnostic services, expanding health infrastructure and workforce capacity, enhancing medical education, and reinforcing drug and blood bank regulation across the state.
Muraleedharan briefed the Union Minister on Kerala's progress under various health programmes, highlighted key initiatives undertaken by the state, and outlined areas where additional support from the Centre would help accelerate implementation. He reaffirmed the state's commitment to working closely with the Centre to achieve national health priorities.
Nadda acknowledged Kerala's efforts and assured continued support from the Government of India to strengthen the state's healthcare ecosystem. He also underscored the importance of Centre-State collaboration in improving health outcomes and ensuring effective implementation of national health programmes.
The meeting concluded with both governments reaffirming their commitment to strengthening public health systems and delivering accessible, affordable, equitable, and quality healthcare.
The review meeting was attended by senior officials from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Government of Kerala, the National Health Mission, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), including Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, NHM Mission Director Aradhana Patnaik, Dr. Rajeev Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India, and Amit Sharma, Executive Director, FSSAI.
