Ministry of Ayush to Host Summit on National Ayush Mission & Capacity Building

The summit aims to provide a platform for discussions on State-Specific Notes and Feedback Notes from State and Union Territory officials, including grassroots-level inputs.

The Ministry of Ayush will host a two-day departmental summit on “National Ayush Mission and Capacity Building in States” on 3rd and 4th September 2025 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Sarita Vihar, New Delhi.

The event will be chaired by Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare.

The summit aims to provide a platform for discussions on State-Specific Notes and Feedback Notes from State and Union Territory officials, including grassroots-level inputs.

The focus will be on strengthening and expanding the National Ayush Mission (NAM), a program that promotes Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, and Homeopathy systems.

This summit is the final in a series of six thematic summits announced during the 4th Chief Secretaries’ Conference in 2025. The summits have brought together officers from the Central Government, States, and Union Territories for deliberations on key themes, including participation from junior officers to support capacity building.

NITI Aayog identified six thematic areas for the summits, with the Ministry of Ayush designated as the nodal ministry for the sixth theme. Preparatory activities undertaken include orientation sessions for States and UTs and dissemination of the Concept Note dated 6th May 2025.

To enable structured discussions, six thematic sub-groups have been formed, each led by two nodal States.

These groups will deliberate on financial management, organizational structures, integration of Ayush with modern healthcare services, quality of Ayush facilities, assurance of Ayush medicines, and IT-enabled digital services.

The summit will see participation from senior officials including Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Director Generals, Mission Directors, and Commissioners of Ayush from across the country. Experts such as Dr. V.K. Paul (Member, NITI Aayog), J L N Shastri, Dr. V. M. Katoch, and Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan will contribute to the discussions.

The summit reinforces the government’s commitment to integrating Ayush systems into the national healthcare framework, with a focus on accessibility, quality, and efficiency through enhanced state-level capacity building.
