Ministry of Ayush Partners with Digital India BHASHINI for AI-Powered Multilingual Ayush Services

Under the initiative titled “BHASHINI Rajyam - A BHASHINI Sahayogi Program,” BHASHINI technologies will now be integrated into Ayush Grid portals, mobile applications, and AI-enabled tools.

The Ministry of Ayush has signed an MoU with the Digital India BHASHINI Division under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to expand multilingual access across Ayush digital platforms using AI-powered language technology.

The collaboration has aimed to support faster translation, transcription, and voice-enabled healthcare services in 22 scheduled Indian languages through the integration of BHASHINI technologies into the Ayush ecosystem.

As digital healthcare adoption grows across India, language accessibility has emerged as a key challenge, particularly in reaching users in non-English-speaking and regional communities.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, said, “Through this collaboration with BHASHINI, we aim to strengthen multilingual capabilities across the Ayush ecosystem, develop robust domain-specific terminologies, and build future-ready AI systems that can support citizens seamlessly across linguistic boundaries.”

The Digital India BHASHINI platform, positioned as India’s national language digital public infrastructure, has been developed to bridge this gap through AI-driven translation and speech technologies.

Under the initiative titled “BHASHINI Rajyam - A BHASHINI Sahayogi Program,” BHASHINI technologies will now be integrated into Ayush Grid portals, mobile applications, and AI-enabled tools.

The collaboration is also expected to focus on creating domain-specific multilingual terminology systems, strengthening Ayush language datasets, and developing contextual AI models tailored for healthcare and wellness communication.

Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, stated, “Language-inclusive AI systems are critical for ensuring equitable access to digital public services. Through this collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, we aim to build multilingual and voice-enabled healthcare ecosystems capable of supporting citizens in their preferred languages while strengthening India’s larger Digital Public Infrastructure vision.”

Officials also noted that BHASHINI integrations have already been tested on platforms such as the Yoga Portal and MAISP under Ayush Grid, where early user feedback in regional languages has reportedly been encouraging.

Demonstrations during the event included multilingual doctor-patient interaction systems, AI-enabled prescription generation, real-time meeting transcription through Shrutlekh, voice-based CV creation tools, and digitisation technologies for preserving ancient manuscripts.
