Fujifilm India has partnered as an academic collaborator for this initiative, marking a milestone in the convergence of technology and medicine.
The Gastro AI Academy will equip gastroenterologists with the knowledge and tools needed to incorporate AI into their medical practice.
The initiative has been designed to address the evolving landscape of gastroenterology, which has seen significant advancements due to technological innovations.
Dr Amit Maydeo, Chairman of the Institute of Gastrosciences at HN Reliance Hospital, said, "The positive impact of artificial intelligence and the immense possibilities it presents cannot be overlooked. We would like to empower our young gastroenterologists with the tools and knowledge that will make them future-ready. Gastro AI Academy will bring together the top global AI experts to impart knowledge on AI, its ethical use, and integration into the patient workflow."
Furthermore, the academy's curriculum is set to include a comprehensive education on AI, from basic concepts to advanced applications, ensuring that the next generation of gastroenterologists is well-prepared to lead in a tech-driven healthcare environment.
The initiative also emphasizes ethical AI use, a critical component as technology becomes more embedded in clinical practices.
Sharing insights, Dr Rajkumar P Wadhwa, chief gastroenterologist and head of the department at the Institute of Gastroenterology, Apollo Hospital, Mysore, commented, "While AI is a promising technology and already integrated into many other modalities, and a lot of data is already available, it is extremely important to have experts curating the program to declutter the data and give real insights which are relevant to the present and also update the gastroenterologist on future possibilities."
The Gastro AI Academy has also garnered support from AI experts globally, including those from the USA, Europe, Japan, and other regions.
These experts will contribute to the academy's educational content, offering insights into the latest developments in AI and its application in gastroenterology.
Dheeraj Chaudhri, head of the division of endoscopy systems at Fujifilm India, said, "Fujifilm India is proud to partner with Gastro AI Academy as an education partner. We will continue to support gastroenterologists by disseminating knowledge and providing clinicians with innovative technologies."
By bringing together experts from various parts of the world, the academy aims to prepare Indian gastroenterologists to leverage AI effectively, ensuring improved patient outcomes and advancing medical practices.
