Kolkata-based Peerless Hospital has launched humanoid robotics, the latest technology for hip, knee, and shoulder replacement with 3D robotics.
The robotics technology leverages the AI platform, and mixed reality with Hololens powered by Microsoft which is a pioneering initiative in Eastern India, claimed the company.
With this move, the hospital aims to enhance precision, improve patient outcomes, and revolutionize the field of orthopedic surgery.
The technology incorporates advanced three-dimensional robotics technology in which AI plays a crucial role in planning and executing surgeries.
Humanoid robotics gives the surgeon real-time vision of the entire limb during surgery, allowing precise adjustments and corrections.
With this, surgeons have complete control over 3D planning, execution, and customization.
Further, using HoloLens, surgeons achieve accurate 3D plans, validate bony cuts, and customize implant placement based on the patient’s unique anatomy.
Microsoft-powered HoloLens-assisted cloud-based system is an augmented reality system where a CT scan of the patient's diseased joint and limb is done.
A computer program helps in calculating the appropriate alignment of that patient.
Moreover, augmented reality helps to achieve the desired perfection with an aim towards improved function and longevity of the replaced joint.
HealthNet Global Introduced a 5G-connected Ambulance in November at Apollo Hospitals, Kolkata. This 5G-connected ambulance claims to be a fully integrated mobile healthcare unit, incorporating the latest medical technologies and connectivity features.
The ambulance is a vital link between the emergency site and the hospital. It achieves this with advanced patient monitoring applications and telemetry devices transmitting real-time health data.
Recently, Skye Air Mobility, a Gurugram-based drone-delivery startup, expanded its drone-delivery of healthcare services in Kolkata's New Town area.
The delivery services include pathological test samples and life-saving medications. These sky pods will serve as the delivery drop-off points for the drones, ensuring safe and efficient delivery operations.
The primary focus is integrating drone deliveries seamlessly into mainstream logistics, particularly within the healthcare, e-commerce, quick commerce, and agri-commodity sectors, ensuring efficient and timely supply chain operations.
Last year, Apollo Multispeciality Hospital acquired a partially constructed hospital with equipment, thereby, establishing its second hospital in Kolkata in a cash deal worth INR 102 Cr.
Reportedly, the newly acquired property will be able to accommodate 325 beds. The initial phase of the hospital, comprising 225 beds, is scheduled to be operational within the next 12 months.
This acquisition aligns with Apollo Hospitals' expansion strategy in key regions, including brownfield and greenfield projects.
Moreover, this acquisition marks the company's fifth addition in the eastern region, increasing the group's total hospital bed capacity to over 1,800 across Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati.
Over the next three years, Apollo Hospitals intends to add another 700 beds to bolster its presence in the East, bringing the total bed count in the eastern region to 2,500.
