IIHMR Delhi & AMTZ Partner to Establish Satellite Center in Visakhapatnam for MedTech Research

The partnership aligns with national priorities such as Make in India, the drive for self-reliance in MedTech, and supports access to affordable, high-quality medical technologies.

The International Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) Delhi has partnered with the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) to establish a satellite centre at the campus of AMTZ, Visakhapatnam, offering opportunities for increased academia–industry collaborations for education, applied research, and workforce development in MedTech and healthcare management.

IIHMR Delhi brings over a decade of expertise in health systems leadership, applied research, and policy engagement, positioning this collaboration as a meaningful step in strengthening India's digital health and MedTech workforce.

Faculty-led applied research in this partnership is expected to address medical device adoption, procurement frameworks, quality assurance, and regulatory impact.

And, the findings are expected to inform policy-making, strengthen domestic MedTech manufacturing scale-up, and support India’s healthcare-technology self-reliance goals.

The partnership also provides structured internships, mentorships, executive education programs, industry-linked competency courses, and collaborative academic-industry programs, and placement pathways for students, entrepreneurs, and professionals across AMTZ-registered MedTech manufacturers, startups, and service providers.

"This partnership will provide career opportunities for students in different sectors, and the specialized accredited management courses would enhance the availability of professionally trained management personnel in the healthcare sector, a significant requirement in the country," said Jitendra Sharma, managing director and founder CEO of AMTZ.

Sharing thoughts, Sutapa, Director of IIHMR, said, “A strong, meaningful link between industry and academia is essential for future-ready healthcare education. This collaboration brings learning into actual manufacturing and innovation settings, ensuring curriculum, research, and training evolve with industry needs.”
