IHH Launches SGD $5 Mn Fund for Global Health Innovation

The fund, to be distributed over five years, will support IHH clinicians and staff in conducting impactful clinical research and piloting innovative, grassroots ideas to address pressing healthcare challenges and enhance patient care.
Malaysia-based IHH Healthcare has introduced a SGD $5 million (INR 34 Cr) Research Grant & Innovation Sandbox programme aimed at accelerating clinical research and innovation across its international healthcare network.
The fund, to be distributed over five years, will support IHH clinicians and staff in conducting impactful clinical research and piloting innovative, grassroots ideas to address pressing healthcare challenges and enhance patient care.
IHH noted that the fund size may increase depending on the quality of proposals and the level of engagement.
The inaugural grant call, held in March, centred on oncology and chronic diseases, two areas of significant global health concern.
From 55 applications, IHH’s Grant Governance Committee, composed of senior leaders and domain experts, selected seven research projects and eight Innovation Sandbox proposals for funding.
Projects supported under the Clinical Research category are expected to conclude within a year, with an extension to two years possible for more complex studies. The outcomes will be shared with the broader medical community to contribute to the ongoing global discourse on chronic disease and cancer care.
Meanwhile, the Innovation Sandbox track will prioritise initiatives that show measurable impact, including scalability across IHH’s markets, cost efficiencies, better patient outcomes, and enhanced patient experience.
“With a clear focus on clinical excellence and innovation, IHH continues to raise the bar in healthcare in key markets of Malaysia, Singapore, Türkiye, India, Greater China (including Hong Kong) and beyond,” the group stated.
“For a start, we are focusing on oncology and chronic disease, two of the most urgent and complex challenges facing healthcare today,” said Dr Prem Kumar Nair, Group Chief Executive Officer, IHH Healthcare.
IHH plans to open its next round of grant applications in September, reinforcing its commitment to fostering internal innovation to shape the future of care.
