Healthplus.ai Raises €2.3 Mn to Scale AI Platform for Predicting Post-Surgery Infections

Surgical complications affect one in three patients globally, with infections being the most common issue and often detected too late for timely intervention.

Healthplus.ai has secured €2.3 million to expand its clinically validated AI platform that predicts post-surgical infection risks before complications emerge.

The funding round was led by Elevating Capital, with participation from LUMO Labs, ROM InWest, Pathena, and Leistone (Renza Family).

The company’s CE- and ISO-certified system, PERISCOPE, analyses electronic health record data to flag infection risks early, enabling clinical teams to act before patient conditions worsen. The platform aims to reduce preventable harm, shorten recovery times, and lower care-related expenses.

Marcel Broersma, Founding Partner at Elevating Capital, said the investment aligns with their belief in “technology that delivers measurable societal impact,” adding that Healthplus.ai “brings medical expertise and AI together to improve clinical decision-making and healthcare efficiency.”

Surgical complications affect one in three patients globally, with infections being the most common issue and often detected too late for timely intervention.

As millions still lack access to safe surgical care, demand for predictive and scalable solutions continues to rise. PERISCOPE integrates directly into hospital workflows and adapts to local patient populations to maintain consistent performance.

Healthplus.ai currently operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and the UK. The new capital will support FDA clearance for the U.S. market, expansions across Europe and North America, deeper integrations with platforms such as Epic, Cerner, and ChipSoft, and development of additional AI models for other perioperative complications.

Founder and CEO Dr. Bart Geerts said the investment will help bring “clinically validated, regulatory-approved AI into everyday hospital practice,” highlighting continued collaboration with surgeons and hospital IT teams.

The company builds predictive tools designed to support surgical care teams with proactive insights, using routine clinical data to forecast complications and improve patient outcomes throughout the surgical pathway.
