Haleon, a British consumer healthcare company, has announced an INR 2,000 crore investment to establish its first manufacturing facility in India. The greenfield site will be developed at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh’s Smart Industrial Park, marking a key expansion of the company’s presence in the country.
Spread across more than 40 acres, the upcoming facility is positioned as a strategic step in Haleon’s long-term growth plans in India’s consumer health market. The investment also signals a push toward strengthening local manufacturing capabilities and improving supply chain resilience across the region.
The announcement was made in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, along with Haleon CEO Brian McNamara, India CEO and President for the India Subcontinent Kedar Lele, and Chief Supply Chain Officer Namrata Patel.
According to the company, the new facility will act as a key production hub to support both domestic demand and exports to wider Asian markets. It is expected to enhance domestic value addition while integrating India more deeply into global supply chains.
Aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the investment is projected to generate economic activity over the next decade, including contributions to state revenues and improved export competitiveness.
The project is also expected to create up to 500 direct jobs, along with additional indirect employment opportunities. Haleon has highlighted its focus on skill development, local hiring, and building a supplier ecosystem around the facility. The company has also indicated an intention to promote workforce diversity, targeting up to 30% women employees at the site.
Speaking on the investment, Haleon CEO Brian McNamara said the company aims to expand access to better everyday health for more than 300 million additional consumers in India, as part of its broader global goal of reaching one billion more consumers by 2030.
The facility will be developed based on Haleon’s global advanced manufacturing blueprint and will include automated production systems. It is expected to become operational between 2029 and 2030, supporting rising demand in both domestic and international markets.
