Govt Issues 3.45 Lakh Health Cards Under Central Health Schemes

Under these schemes, 7.35 crore hospital admissions, amounting to more than INR 1 lakh Cr, have been facilitated under these initiatives.

Over 3.45 lakh health cards have been issued under the PMJAY and the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana till date, as informed by Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh.

Recently, the Union Health Minister JP Nadda has reviewed the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) with senior officials in New Delhi.

“The prompt issuance of over 3.45 lakh cards is a testament to the Delhi Government’s efficient implementation and the people’s trust in our healthcare initiatives. We are committed to upholding the dignity and well-being of every senior citizen in the capital,” Singh said.

Out of these, 1,66,841 cards have been distributed exclusively under the Vay Vandana Yojana (VVY), an initiative aimed at ensuring dignified and secure aging for Delhi’s senior citizens, an official statement said.

Additionally, Under the VVY, 1,24,215 beneficiaries registered for the card themselves, while 11,284 were registered with the help of Beneficiary Identification System (BIS) operators, and 42,176 through government-run Common Service Centres (CSCs), officials said.

As part of the government’s expanded healthcare infrastructure, 85 hospitals have been empanelled under the schemes. The scheme will include 60 private and 25 government-run facilities, allowing beneficiaries to access quality care across both sectors.

These cards offer up to INR 10 lakh in cashless hospitalization benefits, not just within Delhi but also across empanelled hospitals nationwide.

Further, the Delhi Health Minister added that over 30 new Urban-Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (U-AAMs) will be ready by the end of this month.

“This very month, over 30 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs will be dedicated to the people of Delhi.”

The aim of this initiative is to ensure that every Assembly constituency has multiple such centres equipped with medical staff, diagnostic tools, and essential medicines to provide free, reliable, and prompt care, Singh said.
