As part of the project, the Adani Centre for Eye (ACE) and Adani Training in Ophthalmic Medicine (ATOM) will be established in Mastichak.
Gautam Adani, founder and chairman of the Adani Group, a multinational conglomerate, has launched an INR 150 Cr Rural Vision Care Initiative in Mastichak near Patna, Bihar, aimed at building one of the country’s largest rural eye care ecosystems, expanding affordable vision care access across underserved regions in India.
The initiative is being developed through a partnership between the Adani Foundation and Bihar-based Akhand Jyoti Foundation.
As part of the project, the Adani Centre for Eye (ACE) and Adani Training in Ophthalmic Medicine (ATOM) will be established in Mastichak.
ACE will function as an advanced eye treatment and surgical facility focused on affordable care, complex procedures and rural outreach, while ATOM will focus on training optometrists, ophthalmic assistants and community healthcare workers to strengthen the rural eye care workforce.
Adani said, “Restoring sight is not merely a medical intervention. It is about returning hope, confidence and dignity to a human life.”
Referring to Bihar as a region that has historically shaped the country’s social and intellectual direction, he added that the initiative would seek to expand access to healthcare services in underserved communities across India.
The Adani Foundation has also announced plans to establish a 200-bed hospital in Pirpainti in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district near the Group’s upcoming 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant.
The hospital is expected to strengthen affordable healthcare access and community outreach in eastern Bihar.
Alongside the Bihar project, Adani announced an additional INR 500 Cr commitment and the formation of the “Adani Akhand Jyoti Foundation” to scale affordable vision care and community healthcare initiatives nationally.
The total investment outlay for the combined initiatives, including operational expenditure, is expected to exceed INR 700 Cr.
A fleet of 10 patient transport buses was also flagged off under the ACE initiative to improve last-mile healthcare connectivity across remote villages in Bihar and adjoining regions.
