Function Acquires Getlabs to Bring At-Home Diagnostics Into Its AI-Driven Preventive Care Platform

The acquisition will enhance Getlabs' operations through AI-assisted routing and scheduling tools designed to improve appointment availability, increase on-time visit rates, and broaden service coverage.

Function, a Texas-based healthtech startup, has acquired Getlabs, a Florida-based platform for at-home diagnostics, expanding its ability to deliver diagnostic testing beyond traditional clinic settings and into homes, offices, and other convenient locations.

The acquisition will allow Function members to choose between visiting a lab or scheduling blood draws and related services at home, at the workplace, or other preferred locations. The offering is expected to be integrated into Function’s platform, with lab testing, results, and clinical guidance remaining consistent across both in-person and remote options.

Getlabs operates a nationwide network supporting providers, health systems, and partners. The company’s services will continue without disruption following the acquisition, with additional resources expected to support expansion in service coverage and operational scale.

Function said the move addresses barriers that often delay diagnostic testing, including travel constraints, scheduling limitations, and mobility challenges. By enabling remote sample collection, the company aims to improve accessibility and testing adherence.

“Bringing testing directly to people isn’t just convenience, it’s access,” said Jonathan Swerdlin, CEO and co-founder of Function Health, highlighting the role of decentralized diagnostics in improving healthcare reach.

Under the combined model, users will be able to select their testing pathway during onboarding. Options will include visits to more than 2,000 Quest Diagnostics locations across the United States or booking at-home services facilitated by Getlabs. The diagnostic process and outcomes will remain standardized regardless of the collection method.

The integration also incorporates Getlabs’ technology, including AI-assisted routing, designed to streamline scheduling, improve service efficiency, and increase on-time visits.

"At Getlabs, we believe access to testing is a fundamental piece to owning your health," said Claire Hough, CEO of Getlabs. "Together with Function, we can make testing more accessible and seamless, reaching more of the phlebotomists, care teams, and providers who make that possible every day. That mission doesn't change. It scales."
