Fujifilm India Launches Endoscopy Manufacturing Operations in Jodhpur to Expand Local Medical-Device Production

The systems produced under the programme incorporate Blue Light Imaging (BLI) and Linked Colour Imaging (LCI), which support multi-colour illumination and advanced image-processing technologies for clearer visualisation during procedures.

Fujifilm India has launched endoscopy manufacturing operations in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, establishing local production of advanced diagnostic equipment and reinforcing the country’s growing medical-device manufacturing ecosystem.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the domestic supply of endoscopy systems while supporting India’s broader push for technology localisation under the Make in India programme.

The new manufacturing initiative will operate through a local partner facility in Jodhpur, following Fujifilm’s globally benchmarked Japanese production and quality standards.

The company has indicated that the localisation programme will gradually expand, enabling a larger share of endoscopy systems to be produced in India to meet the increasing demand for high-performance diagnostic solutions across the country and nearby markets.

The systems produced under the programme are designed to support diagnostic accuracy during endoscopic examinations.

They incorporate LED light sources capable of multi-colour illumination alongside advanced image-processing technologies that help physicians obtain clearer visualisation during procedures.

Among the technologies included are Blue Light Imaging (BLI), which enhances the visibility of blood vessels and fine mucosal structures, and Linked Colour Imaging (LCI), a feature that highlights subtle colour differences in tissue, particularly in red regions, helping clinicians identify abnormalities more effectively during examinations.

Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Rajasthan’s Cabinet Minister for Medical, Health and Family Welfare, said the project also reflects growing industry confidence in the state’s industrial environment.

“Viksit Rajasthan @2047 is about building capabilities that generate jobs, strengthen infrastructure, and attract advanced technology integration,” he said, adding that the project would contribute to employment and technology-driven manufacturing in Rajasthan.

Haruto Iwata, Managing Director of Fujifilm Asia Pacific, highlighted India’s increasing focus on preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.

“India’s healthcare landscape is evolving rapidly, with increasing emphasis on early detection, minimally invasive diagnostics, and access to reliable healthcare technology,” he said, noting that bringing Japanese manufacturing standards to India could help strengthen diagnostic capabilities.

Koji Wada, Managing Director of Fujifilm India, said the initiative is part of the company’s long-term strategy to expand its healthcare presence in the country. “This milestone is an important part of Fujifilm’s roadmap to deepen our healthcare footprint in India,” he said.

Fujifilm India has also indicated that it may expand the scope of its “Made in India” products in the future to serve neighbouring markets.
