The acquisition combines ekincare's expertise in OPD claims, preventive healthcare, and enterprise health benefits with Superclaims' capabilities in automating IPD insurance claims.

ekincare has acquired health insurtech startup Superclaims for an undisclosed amount as part of its strategy to expand its insurance operations and build an AI-powered claims intelligence platform covering both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) insurance claims.

The Hyderabad-based healthtech company has acquired Superclaims' technology platform and team, while Superclaims will continue to operate independently as a legal entity. Its co-founders, Bhavish Ramaswamy and Maneesh Daithala, along with the existing leadership team, will continue to manage the company.

The acquisition combines ekincare's expertise in OPD claims, preventive healthcare, and enterprise health benefits with Superclaims' capabilities in automating IPD insurance claims. The integrated platform is designed to connect employers, employees, hospitals, insurers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) through AI-enabled claims processing.

Rather than merging operations, ekincare plans to integrate its AI-powered OPD claims engine into Superclaims' existing platform, enabling the system to process both outpatient and inpatient claims. The platform is intended to function as an AI layer over insurers' and TPAs' existing infrastructure, helping automate document processing, claims assessment, and anomaly detection without requiring a complete technology overhaul.

According to the companies, the solution is expected to reduce cashless claim approval timelines from an average of about 90 minutes to under five minutes by automating the review of discharge summaries, prescriptions, diagnostic reports, treatment records, and billing documents.

The acquisition comes as India's health insurance sector continues to rely heavily on manual claims processing. According to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), the country processes more than 3 crore health insurance claims annually, with insurers paying over ₹94,000 crore in claims during FY25.

Beyond faster claims processing, the platform will focus on improving claims accuracy and identifying billing anomalies, duplicate claims, and policy-related exceptions. ekincare estimates that even a 1% improvement in claims leakage control could help an insurer processing ₹500 crore in annual claims recover nearly ₹5 crore.

The acquisition also supports ekincare's international expansion plans. The company intends to develop Superclaims into an AI-powered software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for insurance companies in global markets where claims processing remains largely manual.

Currently, ekincare serves more than 2 million employees across over 1,000 organizations through a network of more than 90,000 healthcare providers spanning over 500 cities. The acquisition is expected to expand its presence across enterprise healthcare, insurance technology, and AI-driven claims management.
